Recognize the types of burnout so you can take action
Burnout refers to a collection of different physical, emotional, and mental reactions that occur in response to prolonged stress and overwork.
Consequently, chronic stress contributes to anxiety, depression, cardiovascular disease, and emotional difficulties.
However, you may sometimes find yourself experiencing symptoms of burnout without being aware of it, simply because you are not experiencing the typical and most well-known signs.
The reason for this is that there are three types of burnout syndrome, and if you are more familiar with one than the others, it will be more difficult to recognize them and take action.
So, what are the types of burnout?
The symptoms are similar, but the behavior does not seem to be the same.
? 1. Burnout due to work overload:
People who suffer from it are overwhelmed by an excessive workload, too many responsibilities, or too many commitments that they do not feel capable of handling.
They are willing to risk their health and personal lives in pursuit of their ambition.
? 2. Burnout due to a lack of challenges:
The signs of exhaustion in this group show a feeling of lack of personal development in their job.
It is common to feel unappreciated, bored, and lacking in learning opportunities.
Since these individuals find no passion or pleasure in their work, they cope with the emotional burden by distancing themselves and evading their responsibilities. This indifference often leads to general disengagement.
? 3. Exhaustion due to neglect:
This type of burnout is the result of feeling incompetent or unable to keep up with the demands of their job. These employees tend to be passive and unmotivated.
Do you identify with any of them? If so, next week we'll talk about what actions to take to avoid/prevent each one!
