At our First Ibero-American Congress Against Burnout – TAKE A BREAK, which aimed to raise awareness about the importance of taking breaks, we had the pleasure of receiving valuable contributions from Dr. Mario J Paredes, a health manager and business development leader, and Norma Diaz, executive director of Community Health Group, the oldest nonprofit health plan company in San Diego.
Mario J Paredes addressed the topic "Rest, happiness, and burnout,"emphasizing the need to recognize the importance of rest and pause, as well as celebrating life.
At Somos Community Care, a network of more than 2,500 providers in the Bronx, Queens, Manhattan, and Brooklyn who guarantee better healthcare for low-income communities, they work tirelessly for people's dignity and aim to build a more humane and happy society for all.
Paredes stressed that it is crucial to leave behind structures established over centuries and embrace the change proposed by initiatives such as María Méndez's, which represents a great opportunity for governments, companies, and institutions in society.
On the other hand, Norma Diaz shared her experience in "Actions to prevent burnout." She emphasized the importance of prioritizing workers, as they are key to making both employees and customers happy.
He recommended gauging how employees feel, encouraging active listening, and being transparent in order to build a relationship of trust.
He also suggested organizing activities that promote physical exercise, relaxation spaces, and active listening to prevent burnout in organizations.
Norma shared her positive experiences of well-being with her colleagues and highlighted the importance of leaders' listening skills in promoting effective management on a daily basis.
We are confident that the knowledge and advice shared by Mario J Paredes and Norma Diaz will be of great help to all of us in preventing burnout and seeking a more balanced and happy life.
