When we realise that we are approaching burnout,
What can we do to prevent this?
how do we change destiny?
Here are three strategies to prevent burnout:
- Changing work patterns: If we are used to working long hours, starting to break them up between work periods relieves both the burden and the stress. Instead of working 8 hours at a time, breaking it up into blocks allows for greater rest, focus and efficiency.
- Do a relaxation practice in the moment of stress: Although it sounds cliché and completely counter-intuitive, at the height of stress is when we are least productive, think the least clearly, and the most exhausted. This is the time when stopping for 5 minutes to breathe, watch a funny video, put on some classical music, can completely change the course of the day.
- Give priority to moments of sharing: Whether with family or friends, moments of encounter tend to re-energise us and give us a sense of joy and relief. Often, due to tiredness and stress, we neglect this. Sharing how we feel, listening and feeling listened to will always be healing.
Here are 3 simple but very effective things you can do if you feel you are not there, but are close to burnout.
Getting close to exhaustion is something that happens gradually and without us realising it.
That is why the steps and decisions to be taken to prevent it have to be conscious. As we can see, they do not happen automatically, otherwise we would not be at this point.
Do you want to work with less stress, more calm and at the same time be more productive?
