When we realize that we are approaching burnout,
What can we do to prevent it?
How do we change destiny?
Here are three strategies for preventing burnout syndrome:
- Change work patterns: If we are used to working long hours, breaking them up into shorter periods of work alleviates both the workload and stress. Instead of working eight hours straight, dividing it into blocks allows for more rest, focus, and efficiency.
- Practice relaxation techniques during stressful moments: Although it may sound cliché and counterintuitive, it is during peak stress that we are least productive, think less clearly, and become more exhausted. This is the moment when taking five minutes to breathe, watch a funny video, or listen to classical music can completely change the course of your day.
- Prioritize moments of sharing: Whether with family or friends, moments of connection tend to re-energize us and give us a sense of joy and relief. Often, due to fatigue and stress, we put this aside. Sharing how we feel, listening, and feeling heard will always be healing.
Here are three simple but very effective things you can do if you feel like you haven't quite reached burnout yet, but you're close.
Reaching the point of exhaustion is something that happens gradually and without us realizing it.
That is why the steps and decisions that must be taken to prevent it must be conscious. As we can see, they do not happen automatically; otherwise, we would not be at this point.
